I’ve been a little frustrated lately because of my weight stall. I’m down at that 65 pound mark and can’t seem to break that number, and I have been here for about 6 weeks. All that said, today was a milestone! I went on a jog around Piedmont Park and I ran farther than EVER. I walked from my apartment to the 10th street entrance and then jogged from that entrance all the way around the BIG field and back through the 14th street entrance. If you don’t live in Atlanta than you have no idea what I’m talking about but you can use your imaginations
I really have no idea how far I jogged, but I’m guessing it was close to 2 miles. On Sunday I ran around my neighborhood twice (in Marietta at my parent’s house) and that was 1.5 miles. Either way, that run just now around the park totally made me realize that although my poundage is stuck, I am seeing major results in other ways – like my endurance levels and my heart rate. And that’s the most important stuff, right? And the funny thing was that I stopped because my legs were so heavy and tired – not necessarily because I was completely out of breath. If I can do it…seriously…anyone can!
I LOVE the park and am so glad I live nearby. It was also just so beautiful out today – lots of folks and their dogs and picnic blankets. It made me happy.
If any of you live in Atlanta, I am signed up to do the “Run Like Hell” 5K at Oakland Cemetery on Oct. 18th. I think it’ll be a lot of fun and just in time for Halloween! You get to run through the cemetery and thru Grant Park and it’s a fundraiser. The first and last 5K I did was last Thanksgiving, so I can’t wait to see how my time has changes in nearly a year!
That sounds like the coolest run. I’ve always loved going through old cemeteries. I do my first 5K this weekend. Good luck with yours, I’m sure you’ll do great!
Good job on your run. I stumbled here looking for the path for the Run Like Hell. I’m doing it as well.
Good Luck!
Great work Julie! Whenever I am trying to lose weight or tone up I measure myself so that way if I don’t lose pounds seeing that I am getting smaller makes me feel better.
