Some Mid-Afternoon Thoughts After 2nd Fill

I just got my 2nd fill which gives me a total of 6 cc’s of liquid.  My band can hold 10 cc’s of liquid.  Dr. Champion says that most people get between 6-8 cc’s of fluid in their bands.  It seems, according to my doctor, that this fill should give me noticible restriction.  I feel like I am eating like a normal person now.  Before I overate, but now, I eat kind of like an average human being – which is great!  But I think I’m ready to eat a little less than the average human.  It’s pretty funny though, I went to a sushi restaurant in Los Angeles and my sister’s friend (who is really petite) and I ate just about the same amount.

I’ll see how this fill does!  If it’s too tight, I won’t be able to keep anything down and will throw up anything I eat.  I hope this doesn’t happen because I would not be fun on a date ;-)

On another note – it was great to see my sister in Los Angeles over the weekend.  She said I looked great and “had a waist and lost 2 chins!”  She, being 6 months pregnant, is filling out her belly but she still looks great.  Abby has never dealt with weight issues so to her, to gain this weight must be weird.  To me, I’m like, “join the club!”  haha.  But it is pretty funny that I’m getting smaller and she’s getting bigger.  At least she has a valid excuse…A BABY!  I wish I had had such an excuse, but mine was Chile’s and beer.

Alas, my goal is to be down 60 pounds by my birthday (July 15th) which would mark exactly 6 months since my surgery.  Right now I am down 46 pounds.  My hope is that this 2nd fill will kick start me.  I feel like I’ve hit a little plateau, even though I’ve lost 4 pounds since my last Dr’s visit.

I just went shopping at Trader Joe’s and I forgot to get my sundried tomatoes.  Dammit!  I did buy chick peas.  I am going to make my own hummus from now on because store bought hummus has a tremendous amount of fat.  I’ll let you know how it tastes!  I love hummus!

One Response to Some Mid-Afternoon Thoughts After 2nd Fill

  1. Yes! Making your own hummus is great. I’ve been doing it for years. It’s sooo much cheaper also. To make it really inexpensive I use dried chickpeas from the bulk section of Whole Foods. Plus you don’t have to deal with packaging. Recently I tried making Red Pepper Hummus and it turned out really well. So if you want some advice on how to make it, I’ll be happy to help! Can you tell I get excited about hummus! I just LOVE making things from scratch with all natural ingredients. Glad you had fun in LA.
